LaVonne Dorsey, is a certified consultant, leadership, career and life coach, and mentor offering pragmatic, compassionate, and honest coaching to individuals seeking to make a commitment to themselves, changing their lives for the better. She is the founder and lead consultant for www.welcometoliving.net providing coaching, team building, strategic planning and consulting to groups, teams and individuals in private, corporate, for profit and non-profit environments.

LaVonne’s clients realize their full potential, by envisioning and verbalizing their dreams and goals, looking beyond obstacles, self-limiting behavior, while taking small steps one at a time, transforming their lives towards a more vibrant, fulfilling future!

LaVonne brings a combination of 30+ years of academic, corporate, and practical life experiences into Welcome to Living. Her academic credentials include a B.A. in Psychology and Organizational Development, which she earned from the University of Washington. LaVonne completed her life coaching education from The Coach Training Alliance (CTA) where she became a Certified Coach and Mentor. Additionally, she is certified in Human Element FIRO B testing and analysis, which she achieved through the Business Consultants Network, Inc. LaVonne’s training is unique, and would not be complete without mentioning her training in Empowering Life’s Energies and Mastering Life’s Energies program from the Academy of Coaching Excellence.

LaVonne has been a committed yoga practitioner for over 9 years. She believes that her practice keeps her physically fit, spiritually and emotionally grounded.

Coaching is a pro-active, optimistic interaction that focuses on people’s inherent strengths and seeks to facilitate the actions that take people from where they are professionally and personally to where they want to be.

How is coaching different from therapy?

Coaching is a service, which focuses on an individual’s life as it relates to goal setting, outcome creation and personal change management.

Coaching supports personal and professional growth and development based on individual-initiated change in pursuit of specific actionable outcomes that are linked to personal or professional success.

Therapy focuses on dysfunction, conflict and healing pain within an individual and relationships. The primary focus of therapy is often on resolving difficulties arising from the past. Coaching is forward moving and future focused. Through coaching we assume that individuals or teams are capable of generating their own solutions, with the coach supplying supportive, discovery-based approaches and frameworks.
